The Inner Loop is a monthly literary reading series in the DC area that aims to give both emerging and established writers the opportunity to read their work aloud and hear the work of their peers. Monthly events feature one “featured reader” (past include amazing folks with all kinds of awards to boast, like you know, Pulitzers), along with nine local readers chosen by submission, three from each genre.
The Inner Loop seeks submissions from writers of poetry, fiction and creative nonfiction. Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis, and writers will be notified two weeks prior to an event if they have been selected to read. You can submit work via email, or by using our submissions form on this site.
The Inner Loop was created by Rachel Coonce and Courtney Sexton, two graduates of the Sarah Lawrence College MFA program. We like to write. We like to read other writers’ work. We really like to hear other writers read their work. It’s inspiring. We realized that D.C. needed more of this, thus was born TIL.
